Your love, O Lord, is reflected in our ability to love.
Your compassion is reflected
in the lives of the compassionate.
Our ancestors were such people. Through their vision of You they learned the laws of life,
May we be worthy to learn them too. Merciful Father, open our hearts.
Merciful Father, lead us to learning, that learning may lead us to deeds and may lead us to teaching others.
May our eyes light up with Torah; may our hearts cling to mitzvot.
May our trust in You
lead us to gladness and joy.
In peace gather us from the corners of the earth and lead us proudly to the Promised Land.
You have brought us close to Your great name, to thank You and to say "You are One" through deeds of love,
All praise to You, 0 Lord
who gives the Torah to the people Israel
with the blessing of love.

SHEMA
Listen, Israel: Yah/ our God, Yah/ is One!
Blessed be the glory of the Sovereign Name forever.
And you must love Yah (the one) your God, with your whole heart, with every breath, with all you have. Take these words that I command you now to heart. Teach them intently to your children; speak them when sitting in your house and walking on the road, when lying down and getting up. Bind them as a sign upon your hand, and keep them visible before your eyes. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. |
