Manny Saks, Chairman of Congregation B'nai Israel welcomed the attendees and noted that the first part of the program is show solidarity with Israel in its conflict with Hizbollah. He stated that although Israel withdrew voluntarily from Gaza, its borders are still under attack. Hamas and Hizbollah violated Israel's borders and kidnapped Israeli soldiers who are held as hostages. The Lebanese government refuses to control Hizbollah and the Palestinian Authority refuses to stop the launching of rockets from Gaza. Israel has a right to live in peace and to protect its citizes. Israel is the Homeland of the Jewish people. We thank the US Government for standing with Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East.
